Resort Roadway Improvements

UPDATE: Pacific Avenue Improvements Project

Below is the latest update from Michael Tippin, Project Manager for the Pacific Avenue Improvements Project. As you can see, they have worked doggedly through the winter weather and other hurdles to complete the first phase on time.

The next resort streetscape projects in the resort to be addressed are 29th street from Pacific Avenue to Artic Avenue, Winston Salem Avenue from Pacific Avenue to Mediterranean Avenue, and 19th street from the Convention Center east to the Dome site. Pacific Avenue improvements are planned in association with the Dome site project from 16th street north to 23rd street. Pacific Avenue is planned for construction over three year period off-season construction cycle beginning October 1, 2014. Southbound Pacific Avenue will be closed from October 1 – May 15th each of the three years for 24/7 construction. All traffic for Pacific Avenue will be within the north bound lanes with one lane in either direction. Resort Projects

The Dome project was re-advertised for interest. The Peterson Company won the exclusive rights to prepare a proposal for the city to review. http://hamptonroads.com/2014/03/virginia-beach-weighs-new-proposal-dome-site

City Council has appointed a citizen’s advisory committee to assist in reviewing the ESG Arena proposal.  http://www.esgco.com/virginia-beach-arena/

Design work is nearing completion of the conceptual phase for the Sense of Arrival project for the 1-264 entry into the resort. Following closely are The Rudee Promenade Walk connection along the Owl Creek waterfront connecting the boardwalk with Rudee’s Restaurant. Additionally the new Aerial Adventure Park which includes a system of zip-lines is now open at the VA Aquarium.  http://virginiabeachadventurepark.com/

The IFLY Sky Diving facility and associated condominium and retail mixed – use project is under construction on 25th street and Pacific Avenue. 

The Cavalier is in design and the historic hotel is under renovation with exploratory demolition. The project is well underway. www.cavaliercollection.com
